The Amalfi Coast. What a beautiful place to visit. Amalfi is the coast's largest town. It's chief glory is a lovely 10th century duomo (Cathedral) fronted by a rich, colored facade. Amalfi was a maritime power before it was subdued in 1131 by King Roger of Naples. It's most illustrious citizens were buried in the 13th century Chiostro del Paradiso, flanking the duomo, a magnificent 9th century structure facing the town from the top of a long flight of steps.
