Mt. Vesuvius, an active volcano, overdue for eruption. The last eruption was in 1944 and the locals believe it erupts every 50 years. A bus will drive you about 3/4 of the way up the mountain side, the other 1/4 you must hike by foot. The hike takes about 30 minutes. Once at the top you will be looking directly into the crator of the volcano, where steam still escapes. This also provides a wonderful view of Naples and the surrounding area.
