I have just met Cabot my new travel pig! I have been given Cabot from my friends Michelle and Evan who are now sticking round NZ for the next year or so. Cabot is currently hanging out in Arthurs Pass after the new year's celebration 'Alpine Unity'. We had minor car trouble and had to spend the night in Springfield, and were looked after by the locals very well. We camped on the local publican's lawn for $10 per tent that included showers and kitchen. He also has backpacker accomodation for $18. We did a caving experience on the pass which is well worth it in summer. 325 m long cave with the deepest water being about 1m. Definitely need a good torch, shoes and some warm gear! We cruised back up the west coast which was truly beautiful. Definitely recommend sticking to the coast as it is much more scenic than the inland road, and only about a 1/2 longer drive.
Cabot is now coming home with me to Martinborough in the North Island. I am taking Cabot with me to travel to France on Febuary 4th 2003. I will look forward to telling you my travel stories in the near future!
