Kingsley would like to announce he is not MIA. He had been on his travels again, this time to Rome.
We arrived at Ciampino airport at 7.40 local time and just our luck it was raining. Luckily we didn't have to navigate our way into the city. What with suitcases, rucksacks and travel pig in tow we thought it would be too much hassle. Most of the airlines such as Ryan air lay on a bus which takes you straight from the airport into the city centre, dropping you off at the Termini or station which then enables you to find your own way to your accomodation. And for 12 euros return we had decided this was the best option.
We had booked into a 4* hotel just south of the station, just a few minutes walk away. The area around the station is undergoing a lot of regeneration but is not an area at the moment that I would choose to walk alone in. As there was the 4 of us, Kingsley included, then it wasn't so bad .The 'Ambra Palace Hotel' has recently been renovated and stands on the Via Principe Amadeo. It is literally a 5 minute walk from the station and from the nearest Metro stop which meant that we had ease of access to transport all around the city. After booking in we made our way to our room. We had been upgraded at no extra cost to a superior room, complete with Jacuzzi bath and balcony and considering there were 3 girls and 1 pig sharing, the room was spacious, extremely clean and very comfortable with lots of cupboard space and a bathroom you could swing not only a cat in but a pig as well.
We had decided not to venture out that night but to eat in the hotel so after filling our tummies with wonderful food we tootled off to bed early for an early start the next day.
