After leaving the Grand Canyon, Cook headed to Sedona.
Everybody raves about Sedona, but on a fairly brief visit, it didn't really seem to offer much. The big thing in Sedona is the red rocks, that jut up from the ground. They sure are impressive, but would have been much more so, had the weather been sunnier. It was overcast and so they didn't live up to the expectations set by the many pictures that I have seen of the area.
The town of Sedona was full of gift shops, craft stores and a bunch of New Age stuff. The area touts places called "vortexes" that are supposed to be focal points of the earth's energy and promote healing. I can't say that they did us much good, because to be honest I wasn't impressed by Sedona. But I know that disagrees with almost everybody else, so I think that a return trip may be in order to see if I can discover what I was missing!
Despite all this, the scenery in Sedona is impressive.
