What you've been doing

Mac the wild eared pig took a trip to Spain for a couple of weeks. We stayed near a small town east of Malaga called Salobrena. The town is described as "the jewel of the Costa Tropical", which isn't saying too much since the rest of the Costa Tropical is pretty dull, though the town does have a good Moorish castle perched high on a rock that rises above the surrounding plains. You get the impression that the locals are trying hard to entice the tourists eastwards from the Costa Del Sol and a new marina, golf course and apartments are being built to help the cause. The main problem is that there isn't an awful lot to do in the area and the surrounding countryside is quite ugly due to most of it being covered by plastic greenhouses, supporting an intensive market gardening industry which spreads some 50 miles east of Salobrena. Granada is about an hour north of Salobrena which is well worth a visit, but more on that later......
