Wow - what a busy day - my hoofs are sore from dashing around all the sites here in this lovely city.
This morning was the Eiffel Tower, then it was the Louvre, and now the Arc de Triomphe.
The Louvre was amazing. I don't know why folks don't like the modern glass pyramid in the courtyard. Sure, it doesn't match the classical architecture of the rest of the museum, but it is beautiful in its own right and the juxtaposition of the pyramid with the classic architecture really works for me. Of course, like most people, we saw the Mona Lisa, and not too much else - the place is huge! We did go down to the basement area where there are the foundations of the original medieval castle. It's not publicized much, but was quite a highlight.
The Arc de Triomphe is pretty cool. The traffic is just as bad as this landmark is famed! Looking down the Champs d'Elysees at all the brake lights was quite a site.
