We weren't sure what to expect from Hue. The guide book paints a nice picture and the old city has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
When we arrived it was raining. I guess this shouldn't have been a suprise as Hue gets an annual rainfall of 3 metres. We had a look around the Citadel which was atmospheric and had some impressive buildings. Overall though we are not amazed by Hue and were expecting something a little more relaxed like Hoi An. However you can use Hue as a base to do some sightseeing further afield such as the DMZ and boat trips down the Perfume River.
Tonight we are taking an overnight bus for 14 hours to Hanoi.
